Where Can You Place a Large Skip?
Skips can be placed anywhere on private land and can easily fit on large building sites and commercial car parks.
If you’re hiring a skip for domestic purposes, it’s worth noting that whilst 6 yard and 8 yard skips may be able to fit in medium sized gardens, many larger skip sizes may not.
If you don’t have sufficient space available in your garden, driveway or other private land, you can get a large skip placed on the side of the road or courtyard outside of your house.
Please note that any skips placed on council property, such as a road, will first require a council permit which will cost you extra on top of the skip hire cost.
How Can I Get a Council Skip Permit?
Generally, in most areas the skip hire company is responsible for obtaining the skip hire permit from your local council and all you need to do is cover the cost of it.

After your skip has been collected, your waste will be emptied out of the skip and sorted into piles for recycling and landfill, so do not attempt to hide restricted items in your skip as you could be charged additional disposal fees if restricted items are found in your skip.
